Right now, you probably believe you will live forever. Me too.

Intellectually you acknowledge that we all die, but that is something that won’t happen to you. At least not in the foreseeable future.

But just because you can’t see it yet, doesn’t mean you are immune. Body chemistry today, impacts body breakdowns ten, twenty, thirty years from now. Body chemistry counts, whatever your age.

Research suggests the average young person’s body chemistry is whacked, making their future health picture pretty bleak.

Counting teen’s body chemistry

Researchers from Northwestern Medicine surveyed the health profiles of 5 547 teens (12-19 years old). The team focused on numbers which are connected to cardiovascular health i.e. the health of the pipes which carry everything round the body. Blockages of these pipes ultimately cause heart attacks, strokes and dementia.

  • 30 % of the guys and 40 % of the girls had high sugar levels
  • 35 % of the teens were either overweight or obese
  • 48 % of guys didn’t move enough to get the juices flowing, while 62 % of girls were more-or-less couch potatoes
  • 35 % of girls and 27 % of the boys had high cholesterol
  • 25 % of the teens smoked
  • Approx 8 % of the teens had elevated blood pressure

Bad body chemistry not just for old toppies

These stats suggest a third of these teens had BAD BODY CHEMISTRY.

Don’t want to sound melodramatic, bad body chemistry will take you to an early grave. PLUS you can’t think straight if your body chemistry is off !

How would you rank your body chemistry ?

GOOD, BAD, UGLY

Lifestyle determines body chemistry

There is more to body chemistry than diet and exercise. Diet and exercise are significant role players, but your

  • sleep patterns,
  • your relationships,
  • your hygiene habits,
  • your stress levels,
  • your attitude to life, the universe, your boss etc.
  • the neighbourhood in which you live
  • as well as the drugs you take, this includes the socially acceptable ones, such as caffeine,  as well as those prescribed by your doctor and the supplements you’re picking up at the at the local health store

Bad body chemistry is fixable

It begins with “wanting it”. Until you want it, you won’t do anything different !

Next you need to “learn it”.

Then “try it”, what works for one person doesn’t always work for the next.

Finally, you need to “live it” i.e. do it everyday.
