Kick some butt -the real story behind fat butts
When you sit down the fat cells located in your buttocks assume responsibility for keeping you supported. The bigger you are, the harder they have to work.
Which end do you worry about ?
I must confess, my fat radar tends to concentrate on what is happening front and centre i.e. around my middle, but when I’m choosing an outfit, the fit around the butt is something I do consider. When preening in front of the mirror, it is always prudent to do a little rubber necking, to establish what the outfit will look like from the rear.
A protruding butt, while seldom a health risk, is not usually considered an asset.
Researchers from Tel Aviv University suggest, big butts are an inevitable consequence of body pressure.
Being a fat cell in the butt
For the fat cell located at the end of your butt……….life is not easy.
Apart from being part of the anatomy which is not particularly valued, the fat cells find themselves, under tremendous pressure. The reason, the act of taking a load off i.e. sitting down, means you transfer the responsibility of keeping you supported, from the bones and muscles in your legs and back, to your fat cells.
And fat is flabby i.e. soft and squishy.
So being required to hold everything up, is S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L !
The more you weigh and the more often you “take a load off”, the greater the forces bearing down on the fat cells that find themselves “CARRYING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WORLD”.
They need re-inforcements…..
Shoring up
Using state of the art technology to probe what was happening inside individual fat cells, the research team discovered, fat cells actively respond to this compression.
The way fat cells cope, when the walls are caving in due to these outside pressures …… is they reinforce the walls, bringing in additional lipid droplets. The extra lipids, make the fat cells stiffer. Of course, cells with extra lipids are “fatter”. The team found the cells were up to 50 % “fatter”.
And “fatter” cells are “bigger”. Oops !
But at the end of the day, a “fatter” fat cell is more resilient…….
The bottom line
And more resilient fat cells are better able to handle being stuck between YOU, and a hard place. Of course, the more you sit, the more hard-wearing your fat cells are likely to become.
I am guessing you suddenly feel the urge to take a load off your butt ? Maybe it’s time to try a walking desk ?
After all, your “booty” is a public asset/liability…………..unlike your heart, which is hidden.
Butt is it healthy
Getting off your butt is a health move…
But when it comes to health, the size of your butt is not an accurate measure of health status, the size of your belly, is. The fat that piles up in your belly is associated with metabolic syndrome, which is what creates most of the lifestyle diseases.
For the most part…………..belly fat is not that resilient.
Maybe this is because it only experiences chronic pressure, when you insist on wearing the pair of pants you’ve outgrown.
This is the fat you need to worry about.
It will probably take more than just getting off your butt, to relieve the pressure on these fat cells, but it can be done using a little CANDY FLOSS.
